Is there any wilderness left to explore?
People back in history had the wonder of the unexplored.

There is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH to explore!

We have not, as actual people, been beyond the Moon!

Imagine if we could get as far as the Crab Nebula? That would still leave over 90% of the Universe which has not been explored.

Not sure on this one. There is North Sentinel Island

Quote:
Officially, the island has been administered by India as part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Union Territory since 1947.[16] However, because there has never been any treaty with the people of the island, nor any record of a physical occupation whereby the people of the island have conceded sovereignty, the island exists in a curious state of limbo under established international law and can be seen as a sovereign entity under Indian protection. It is, therefore, one of the de facto autonomous regions of India.

The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has stated in 2005 that they have no intention to interfere with the lifestyle or habitat of the Sentinelese and are not interested in pursuing any further contact with them.[3]

Oh I would dearly love to go exploring there with a good crew.
Got a spare billion or two?

You reckon you would get as far as the moon with that amount? No idea really, just wondering like...

I met someone once who wanted to make a hundred million dollars to build a spacecraft and go to Mars. I hated to burst his bubble and explain that it would cost far more than a million dollars to do that.

My guess is a billion dollars might get you out of the atmosphere.

I bought stage 2 and 3 Saturn V booster rockets on ebay. Just looking for stage 1 and a retrofit CSM now.

That is the place where the locals kill everyone who lands there.

Yup, and it's probably the only place on earth where the indiginous people have the right to say no to what we consider civilization.

History is full all kinds of yuck, like wooden false teeth and out houses. Everytime I see some show about it, I am so happy I am not living back then.

How anyone can be in awe of it is beyond me. Seems like it is something in which to gratefully and gladly escape, go the opposite direction.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Back then, I'm sure intellectuals thought the future would be better. Now, the "future" sucks, and people want to fantasize about the Good Old Days.
