I think wrongplanet needs to talk about this on your website because I'm a fan of his.

His name if Brian Hill and runs the website USWGO Alt News and he has mild autism and is being sued for copyright infringement over a TSA Enhanced pat-down photo.

Editors note: The original post was deleted because of some abusive and hateful comments from some Oneutah commenters. Mr. Hills Mother asked that I repost the article but I would kindly ask commenters of Oneutah to look at the big picture here. This story is about how a company like Righthaven is effecting the lives of real people. It is not about the politics or beliefs of anyone. Righthaven is particularly targeting political bloggers and it is no accident. Besides suing as a money making venture they are also causing irreparable harm to blogging and alternative media in general. They are causing irreparable harm to free speech. All bloggers and website operators need to come together and stop this insidious organization or they will find other ways to come after you too.

Our answer to prayer for relief:

Brian was born a preemie. When he was a little over a year old, his dad left him and his mom. When he was 18 months old, the family discovered that he had brittle diabetes, type 1 with glucose reading of over 1200, spent one week in the hospital – from that time to now, he lives with daily blood sugars of 42 (or lower) to 600 some days (bladder problems and other problems at those times). His life since the age of 18 months has been to have several finger pricks daily to monitor for glucose readings. He has 3 to 4 insulin shots daily. He has seizures with some of these lows. When he was 2 – 3 years old, his mom discovered that he had mild autism and developmental delays. He had years of speech training in school, and school become so rough that his mom decided to do home schooling. She has not been able to work an outside job since the day he was born. She had a job lined up and a real good day care when he was 18 months old, took him to get his shots (which they gave him a lot at the health department in one day), and within one month, Brian was in the hospital a serious diabetic, glucose reading of over 1200). They have videos to show that he acted entirely different after these shots. This ended his mom’s trying to work on an outside job between the diabetes (he started having seizures when his sugar rapidly goes low) and developmental problems, all she could do was sign up for disability. They have lived (both of them on disability) since 1992. That is their only income. With all of these complications, Brian can’t drive, so they both stay home. With the home schooling, he became proficient in computers, having his own server at the age of 13 or 14 years old, and his own web site. He makes no money from this web site, but treats it (devotes time to it) more than most people do to a job. He feels proud to be called “The administrator of USWGO”. Also he feels like he is helping others by bringing out the truths that are hidden or news other people don’t have time to find. Because of the brittle diabetes, his blood sugar can fall really fast night or day, so his mom is always there to treat these. The autism for years was a nightmare with really bad tempers, which he himself discovered, as long as he does not get any vaccination shots at all, he can control these moods better himself. The mild autism can also be described as listening to a radio station with static, that comes and go. At times his thinking can be very clear, at other times – not as much. This is also the way the diabetes affects him with the extreme highs and lows of glucose. He and his mom have had a lot of battles, take away his website, and he has nothing. They have no money for lawsuits or lawyers. Looking at his website, one would never suspect the hardships he has faced and continues to face daily.

It has been a rough 4 days for them. It’s scary when someone is sued for putting a picture on their website when the paper says to share this with everyone, which is what he did. – one picture without any copyright watermarks on the photo, and it is causing all of this! They are suing him for $150,000. He is 20 years old, does not own a house, a car or anything, lives off from about $700.00 a month disability check (mother and son). He pays for his own website too out of that money! He lives in NC, and the suit is in Colorado. This has also become a major concern for both Brian and his mom. This type of worry causes blood sugar to really climb high, and his mom’s blood pressure is also climbing. What type of damage is this type of worry going to do to both this mom and son?

He did put this photo on his website to share with others, just as he read that he was to do which is exactly what Brian did, maybe in a different way than someone who does not have mild autism would do, but none the less, he shared it with others. So now this news came out in November, 2010. Did this person suing this young man with brittle type 1 diabetes, mild autism and developmental delays and no money actually lose $150.000 because everyone is rushing out to buy this photo? How much is this photo worth? How much money has Righthaven lost because it was shared on a news web site? How many people were actually going to this website to look for this photo which is now old news? How many people are going down to the news station to buy old newspapers just so they can see this photo?

I think it's crazy. A mild autistic political news blogger on Social Security Disability money is being sued for copyright infringement and never even got warned to takedown the photo and is being sued by one of the worst Righthaven.

This is important. He is on disability because he cannot work, he has mild autism, type 1 brittle diabetes and he is being sued even though he really owns no property and is in a HUD Home.

I know somebody in the mainstream media that is going to cover this and found out about this.

Why isn't wrongplanet covering this. A autistic person is expected to goto the Colorado Court for a trial over his blog!! !

i am pretty sure the righthaven bloodsuckers can't touch mr. hill's SSDI. righthaven is wasting their own money, as they will never be able to squeeze any blood out of a turnip [figure of speech].

I am sorry if I have given anybody the wrong assumption that I am some kind of spammer here. I just thought about posting this here whenever I joined because it's a hot topic on the Internet right now and since hes autistic like me I would bring aid to him by letting people know what is happening to him. I expect for him to be sued if he gave out warez or free music thats copyrighted but never sued over just 1 picture. This is terrible.

I wish we could just live in a world without suffering and without toxins. This guy tried to expose stuff about vaccines and other stuff and I never thought he could be sued over bringing credibility to his opinion about the government forcing toxic vaccines down peoples throats.

I wish vaccines actually helped people instead of hurting people and that all cures to life threatening illnesses could be legal instead of drugs causing more problems then even the illness is. I wish we lived in a world where there was no deceit, lies, and that everybody can be happy in this world.

who the f**k is righthaven? sounds like they get behind local crappy newspapers and then get trolling on the internet for hours on end. i mean the las vegas review-journal and the denver post? mediocre newspaper owners getting all bitchy about copyright i.e the death ray illustration. really this is about a death ray and a tsa pat down? bunch of punk ass ret*ds working for righthaven. while copyright law is necessary and it has its place, this just seems a little much to go after non-profit websites and others. i wonder if i copied an image of the ceo of righthaven, would they sue me? oh you take picture of me from my website and post it to others, how dare you, where is your 150 thousand? i bet we could settle this the old fashioned way...2 hits...me hitting you and you hitting the floor. the ceo just oozes douchebaggery in the photo. but i cant tell you where it is. and where is their website? little scared to get hate mail, righthaven?

Could the ACLU or someone similar help this guy?

What about the fair use provisions of copyright law? (one of the things courts are supposed to look at in this regard, are you siphoning profits away vs directing additional readers to the first source. I mean, materially hurting the profit potential of the copyright holder.)

good idea Musicprophets but what I really think we need is a delinking campaign to where we boycott and give no link popularity to any Righthaven media sites. We could start some image that bloggers could use called "Delink Righthaven Partners" and this will hurt their advertisers in their wallet thus killing their websites until they stop working with Righthaven.

checked it out and looks good. Every blogger here needs to do the whole delinking campaign not even source those righthaven sites. That outta show em.

If they don't like people giving righthaven sites credit then don't give them credit for anything at all. Show those people that messing with bloggers is messing with freedom of speech.

i mean whats next righthaven? are they going to sue somebody over posting a hillary duff music video? oh f**k if youtube ever gets with righthaven, i will surely have to vomit. a lawsuit for one f*****g picture of a tsa pat down. how much money did the denver post lose in regards to advertisement clicks, page views, etc? so i guess the moral of the story is dont post anything of your own for any sh***y newspaper like the denver post to get all upset that they loss a few cents of advertising revenue? i mean i understand the newspaper industry hates that no one is buying their papers as much and then surely 10 years ago, they all started to post online all their articles, pictures, editorials, and there opened up a whole new world of ad revenue and all is right in the world, but now 10 years later with the internet killing their paper copies, they get all freaked out about a picture of a tsa pat down being used. so i guess we should start just posting random pictures of kittens, dogs, buildings, presidents, the sunset, and put in big RED LETTERS across this "THE DENVER POST OWNS THIS PICTURE, IT OWNS THE STARS AND THE SKY, AND IT OWNS YOUR ASS FOR TAKING THIS PICTURE". such seriously f****d up BS. the denver post and the las vegas review journal should be ashamed for their bait and switch tactics. You think business is bad now? i would say by the year 2025, the traditional newspaper hitting the doors of houses every morning or weekend WILL BE LONG f*****g DEAD AND BURIED by the new generation of media creators, owners, and users. get the f**k over it, its no longer 1980.

exactly if Brian loses the case it may be the end of his rights to own a domain name or even blog because the court docket on scribd said to restrain Mr. Hill. I expect the SWAT Teams outside the court house in case he loses due to jury being bribed by righthaven. Im sure with the economy down the cra**er the jury would say hes guilty for the fun of it.

So much for Free Speech and so much for autistic adults being safe from bullies since they aren't allowed to speak out. You know Hitler went after the disabled and political dissidents. Whats stopping Righthaven if they can break laws by suing DMCA Agents without following proper law procedure they might as well stick guns to peoples heads demanding settlement, lol. Whats to stop Righthaven from having their own private army of supporters to crush anyone messing with them and their mary little band of newspapers.
