Yeah, I like the idea that A. C. Clarke presented in "2001... ," that aliens have interviened in our evolution from time to time. Isn't that the kind of thing we would, will do, when we can? Brings us back to the fundamental "Frankenstein" theme. Should we be fooling around in what many consider to be the province of god?

It's cases like this that give me the opinion that creationism/intelligent design and the evolution theory can sit happily side by side. What if God created the first basic, living organisms with the intention that they should evolve, and basically sat back and observed this, tweaking them from time to time along the way to push them in a certain direction? And perhaps after a time, he looked at the homo family and, thinking that it seemed particularly promising, decided to take some of them and make a 'final' adjustment - making us human by an act of creation.

I agree with this interpretation Hovis. I do think that their is more beyond this though.

Thats the key isn't it...

how energy, chemicals, became life?

We didn't even used to know mass and energy were different manifestations of the same thing, we didn't used to think about evolution so therefore we used to say they were all created at once..

Seems to me the more we find out the greater the desperation grows in the need to insert god into the equation.
