If all my friends and family die it would make no difference. If you're alive you can do anything. You have a chance but if your dead that is all. Nothing matters

I really hope that the version from the investigators is true, but logic tells me otherwise

You are missing one step and that is that they would be alive today if it was not for the fact that someone decided to kill these people. Lubitz made a conscious decision to end it for them, he had no right to make that choice.

An alternate view would be that in the grand scheme of things feelings are the only things that matter.

Murdering large numbers of people does huge emotional violence to an even larger group of their friends, family and empathetic strangers.

'Bild' is Germany's most sensationalist, muck-raking newspaper, very similar to the tabloids published in the UK and the USA, so I would tend to believe the French investigator rather than them. Over the last week there has been a lot of criticism within Germany of their press's coverage of the crash, which has been intrusive and often false. Much soul-searching has gone on among German editors about their own behaviour, and the tone has now become much more sober.

So far, very little genuine, corroborated evidence about Lubitz's motives, his psychological or physical health has been released. Most of what we are getting is inexpert speculation.
