today is Mother's Day. what do you all think of mother's day?

My NT sister and I give gifts to our mom every Mother's Day to show how much we always have loved her.

So yes, we obviously love Mother's Day.

my late mother claimed to not be interested in such, but my late sister always showed up with gifts on Mother's Day, and she did not object. when i asked my mother what she wanted for mother's day she usually brusquely replied "don't bother."

I used to give my late mother gifts, but since my wife became a mother nearly 19 years ago, I've been giving gifts to her.

My mother treasures Mother's Day and Birthday cards.
She doesn't care about the gift, or want a gift.
She likes beautiful cards with meaningful verses which suit the person.
She has every card she's received from everyone in her life.
She spends a lot of time rereading them.

I didn't get her a card this year so I feel badly.
I was going to but she ended up in hospital.

She buys me Mother's Day cards, and a hanging outdoor plant.
I always get the same planter every year from her.
This year I got the card which was ready for me at her house.
She didn't get to the nursery for my flowers.

if only there was an organization of people who could recognize the unrecognized mothers out there who get no recognition from their own families.

Bereaved Mothers' Day is the first Sunday in May.

more calendars need to have that printed on them.

My mother was born on Mother's Day in 1934.  She would have been 90 years old, had she not smoked for most of her life.  She did the best that any mother could do with 6 kids and a bipolar/alcoholic husband.  I miss her laughter.  I miss her wisdom.  I miss her strength of character.

I miss her.

my mother was tough as nails, she hadda be with my dad being the way he was.
