sorry mac, but of the choices you supplied, none were anywhere near as boring, as a chia pet.

I voted 'Turtle' but I think pet Rock or pet peeve would be the most boring. Or maybe a pet beetle. *whistles*

Fish. You can't get them out and play with them. At least you can pet a pet rock.

either fish or pet rock.
pet rock has the potential to be exciting though and can come in handy when you're being attacked by ninjas.

I voted lizard. I don't see why so many people voted for fish; I used to be able to spend hours looking at the fish my grandfather had in his aquarium. They were awesome fish though, not just goldfish.

I couldn't decide between a fish and a turtle, but I voted turtle. They're so slow, and they hide inside their shell whenever they have anxiety and don't come back out until God knows when...

At least fish can come in varieties. Turtles tend to all look the same.

Hmmm, seems like something a lot of us can relate to. :P

A fish because even a rock you can at least pick up and handle a lot.

Probably depends on the species of lizard. I have a bearded dragon and she is the most fun pet I have ever had but then I can get her out and handle her. Some species of gecko, such as Madagasgan day geckos shouldn't be handled because they are so fragile. At least turtles can be handled as well. When I get a pet, I want something I can play with.

I voted for fish - but that's mainly because I spent the best part of twenty years being able to play with my dogs and hold my cats. Without that kind of tactile contact I don't think I'd be able to really feel like the fish were mine, if you see what I mean.

I mean, fish are pretty and all - but the only place I ever intend to keep a tank of them is on FaceBook ;)

A fish. I keep a tank full of them for the last five years when I started to keep fish again after a break but the sad truth is that you can't pull them out to play with them as someone already said, teach new tricks to them as you could do for example with a dog, stroke them nor take them for a walk (if you persist in those two last options, you can theoretically do it but neither stroking their slippery bodies nor walking your fish while they're in a small glass jar you hold isn't going to give you too much pleasure, lol).

I do agree about the fish. All you do, is watch them swim back and fourth. No wonder so many kids have their fish die on them.
