This is Gunter:

Image

Gunter is a Rouen Duck, a medium sized domestic duck. I got him from the agricultural fair last summer.

Image

He is about six months old, and is a cuddly little monster.

Image

He is too fat to support himself in the air. He is figuratively too fat to fly.

Image

I am trying to include a sampling of photos of him as he grew up, but SOMEONE foolishly deleted a bunch of files  I think they are gone for good. :(

Image

As the above photo shows, Gunter is also good at making messes.

Image

Gunter is a house duck, and he sleeps in my bedroom.

Image

My dad died very suddenly last year, and I have been in a pretty dark place since then.

Image

Gunter helps me to feel a little better about life.

Image

When I saw his little face at the fair, I just knew he was going to be my little buddy.

Image

How could I resist?

Image

Image

When he was a baby, I would put him in "Birdy Jail" when he was bad or I needed a break.

Image

Soon he learned how to break out, and by 2 weeks old, he was too clever to be locked up in Birdy Jail.

Image

I brought him home when he was 9 days old.

That's all the photos I can find at the moment. I'm trying some file recovery stuff currently. Hopefully I can recover more photos and videos.

I like ducks, they can be plucky little birds and quite fast in the air. Gunther is very cute, thanks for sharing the photos.

Makes me Quack up!

At least he's not a Scandinavian duck; they go "Kvack!"

I'm glad you're enjoying him.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!! !!

You're so lucky! Gunter is adorable. Ducks are amazing. It's my dream to be able to have a house duck or goose. I scour YouTube for people's pet and rescue house bird videos.

Give Gunter a duckie cuddle from me.

I love the picture where he's lounging on you, hanging his little leg over your arm!

Gunter is so adorable, both as a duckling and an adult! I haven't been having the greatest day today, so some cute animal pictures were just what I needed.

I wish I could upload some pictures of my own pets on WP but I haven't been able to for some reason. :(

P.S. Sorry about your dad. :(

Yes, my condolences about your dad; that's a very sad loss. Animals and their unconditional love can help us a lot. This little guy brings a lot of light into your life, I'll bet.

I like that second photo, he looks like he is going to go sliding through the snow like a penguin. :)

I see Gunter likes video games, whatever you do don't let him play Duck Hunt for the NES. It will probably scar him for life.
