I don't care how many times I've gone straight at this light; I already told you we're taking a different route. Turn right. Turn right!
And you're going straight. Why are you so obsessed with habits? Today is not yesterday. It doesn't matter what I did yesterday, or every day before that. Focus on where I'm going now.

i can't shout at my brain as it has to put up with too much stress as it is. instead i sweet-talk it and try to coax some utility out of it, and reward it frequently as best i can. i say this right after i swore "GDit for the umpteenth TIME!! ! will ya just hold it together??..." ADHD, AS and pathological demand avoidance are a big cross to bear.

I definitely like the idea of gentle coaxing under anything like normal circumstances. A bullying tone doesn't foster my respect, and I think my brain feels the same way. But sometimes I give it gentle commands, and they have been known to work when it's been capable of carrying them out without much trouble.
