I don't know why, but I feel dumb when I have to make a list for shopping so I don't forget something. Even smart people do it.

I feel dumb when I go shopping & I don't make a list because I buy few things & I can easily remember. I feel dumb because I tend to have a hard time figuring out where what I'm looking for is at in the store or because I have to figure out what the exact thing I want/need is & have to compare

I have to write what I need on the back of my hand, since my lists usually gets lost or forgotten.

I feel dumb when I make a grocery list and then forget to bring it to the grocery store.

Nope. I know lot of people do it and it's a good way to remember what to get. I keep it on the fridge and it's there for me to see. Whenever we need things we don't particular get, I write it down.

I don't feel dumb. Lists are practical. People who don't make lists are more likely to forget things or buy a bunch of extra stuff.

I'm so totally absent minded that I really rely on reminders, but one thing I struggle to make is shopping lists.

I just go to the shop and pick up what looks like it would be good to eat this week, or to look at the products in the toiletry/cleaning product/etc aisles so that I see the relevant ones and remember I need them.

If I have to decide on what I need to buy that week without the things actually in front of me, every object on the list is like this little random thought I have to find and fish out of the soup of my very random mind, and I won't manage to remember it all until until I'm at the shop anyway – and it's in front of me!

I was also told that making shopping lists keeps people from buying things they don't need. Why? Because they make a list and stick to it and they don't end up spending any extra money on stuff they don't need.

You know how stores are, sale prices and sometimes it's tempting to buy and the food they have and it can be tempting because it looks yummy and you want it. So you end up grabbing it off the shelf but if you have a list, it's easier to resist because you want to stick to the list. That could be another reason why some people make lists even though they know what they need to get.

I don't do lists, which make me feel cramped and limited in my options. Instead I visit a variety of small stores frequently and walk around to see what I might need now or in the near future. I also expect to find at least one thing I didn't know I needed, but now that I've seen it, can't live without. Nothing makes me crabbier than to have to go out to buy specific items today. I just know they'll be hard to find and unsatisfactory when I do, and I'll end up feeling abused by the whole process.

Don't feel dumb! List is a great way to control your shopping!

If I don't make a list, I will go to the store for just one thing and come home with a dozen things, none of which were the one I went for in the first place.

I put lists on my phone. Harder to misplace. :)

I have also been known to go into the grocery store to get one thing (no list needed) and then to leave with a number of things, except for the one thing I meant to get in the first place. My brain.
