I have no experience of anything but "outsiderness"... but I have become comfortable with it through long experience.

I've been a WP member for slightly over 8 years and sometimes I still feel like an outsider. I'm glad of the presence of this thread. :)

Nah! Only if I argue with HER and get condemned to the doghouse for a few weeks. (The doghouse is a bit lonely because we don't have a dog these days).

Thanks for that.

I really am a disagreeable kind of 'spergic... I don't like the sound of Southern Yank's nasal whining.

Well I think so. It mostly comes from Queensland, which is about as close as one can get to southern USA without getting your feet wet. I hate'm just because they seem to be trying to imitate howling, moaning Yanks.

there are some southern accents that are quite refined and noble, such as that of the late senator Robert Byrd.

I know nothing about Bob Byrd. I was thinking "Country music" when I posted.

I guess in the field of crap-kicking music it is hard to find a non-twangy/whiny singer. johnny cash wasn't really whiny.

Been away from this site for several years, have a blog at http://open.salon.com/blog/jsand but find the people there sort of boring. I delight in being unpopular but then, I'm old and got used to it. I'm very friendly with dogs, cats, squirrels, sparrows, chickadees, and seagulls when they permit my proximity. People are a problem but then, they rarely pee on the rug like my other friends.
