A pre-natal test would be the worst thing they could come up with. NT parents already feel like they have the right to abort a baby because it's not the right sex.

Imagine a yearly telethon, with low functioning autistic children paraded before the camera, with NT entertainers raising money to CURE these poor pathetic children ! !!

Makes yer skin crawl, don't it ???

If that is allowed to happen society will have huge problems down the line, with some types of people frankly ceasing to exist. Mind you, they kill surplus babies in the PRC so God knows how they would do that in the West.

LOL, they tend to lose at anything they declare war on so we should be perfectly safe!

Yes but just think if they handle this like all their other wars (drug war, war on terrorism, Iraq ) there is nothing to worry about

One should never underestimate an enemy; it's probably the most fatal blunder one can make.

I think they might be underestimating us too

This is good, because the US never wins wars on nouns

No, but they might do a good job of damaging us and putting people with Asperger's under tremendous strain needlessly. We don't want that, surely?

It could become quite the stigma, thanks to testing. Instead of being part of the spectrum, they just label you autistic for your own good, and then put you in 'special' classes, or 'special' jobs.

In the US we are headed for a major conflict on all the issues of genetic testing and who gets to know what. With the controversy surrounding abortion I don't think it will come to that if it does think of the strange allies we would have like the Catholic church and many republicans.

"Teacher, why was Johnny taken out of our class in handcuffs?"

"Johnny has an illness called Autism. He was pretending to be normal, but one of you let us know he wasn't. A very good student told me about how Johnny acted 'different', and was obssessed with computers. So now Johnny goes to a 'special' re-education school where he will be 'cured'. Isn't that nice when people with an ilness are cured??"

"Yes Teacher!!"
