Does anyone else ever worry that if they sniff a cat too much they'll get fur up their nose?
Or something similar?

Question. . .why do you sniff a cat in the first place?

Because Flo smells nice. It's not just me though, other people on here have admitted that they sniff cats too.

So it's not to get high or anything like that. Hmmmm. I don't think there would be a problem as long as the cat is well groomed.

Just me being silly. I sniff my rabbit-but that's kind of a socialization thing with rabbits as per books I've read.

Yeah...how can you get high off a cat? Maybe there would be some catnip stuck in their fur or something?

You might want to read up zoonoses (animal-human disease transfer) on these web pages:

I sniff our cats too sometimes, because they smell nice. Not a lot, and only gently, because otherwise they don't like it. (It's not hard to feel intimidated when someone's sniffing you whose head is almost as big as your entire body.) You would notice if you'd get fur in your nose, and you could get it out by blowing your nose. This might happen now more often than otherwise, because it's spring and the cats are losing a lot of hair now.

I like you Soph, but yucky...can't sniff a cat...they make me sneeze and I don't like them.

Do they really smell nice?? I mean they lick their bums and then use their tongue to clean their fur??? 8O

A lot of animals do that. And like you, I'm allergic to cats. As before, I don't see any probs if it as long as the animal is groomed and healthy.

Yeh I don't sniff Flo loads, just now and then. She comes to sleep next to me quite a lot and rubs her head on my chin etc. I don't go following her around smelling her though. I think that would get annoying :D
All cats smell nice. Other people have said the same thing so I know it must be true. She is clean though, I wouldn't sniff a dirty cat. :P

Mmm, I know...so many people love cats here and I feel like such a grinch, but I can't care for them...I had one once and it ran away and I just don't think they are deserving of the love they receive from humans!

Elephants on the other hand deserve lots of love...they are cute! And smell nice...especially baby ones...yummy.
