I talked to my allergist. He says it is suspicious that there could have been latex contamination of the cake due to the fact I had a red streak where I rubbed off the blue icing that got on my cheek. He said normally food dyes don't cause contact dermatitis. But something was definitely in the cake. He told me to find out for sure which store it came from then find out what is in the blue dye and if they are using latex gloves. I should add in Arizona latex gloves were outlawed for food handlers several years ago so they could easily get fined if they are using latex. I suspect its some weird something in the dye though, like maybe some fruit extract that I am allergic to or one of those bizarre dyes that's been banned in other countries. The dr did say he has one patient with purple dye allergy who gets very ill from it, so blue allergy is possible.

Just a thought...wondering if they did the top effect using a spatula containing latex?

Most are rubber, but some I think are latex or a composition of?
