It took place when there was communism in Poland. I doubt that she'd be given a medal now and she would be called a stupid, irresponsible woman. My great grandmother had also few miscarriages as far as I know, so if she was able to give birth to all her children, the family would be even bigger. They all used to live in one big room, strange as it may seem. My grandmother (wife of this grandfather) had at least 8 siblings but all of them died very young of tuberculosis. As same as grandpa's several siblings. It's how life in poor villages before the war used to look like.
