Look, Alex is the one who calls the shots. We already have two adult forums, one for talking about sex, drugs....and....je ne sais quoi, while the other is for mature discussion. We're not having a flaming forum of any sort.

Why should we have a flame forum... it will just upset people..

WrongPlanet is about support and unity, we do not want people to be upset...

We want everyone to understand each other for their quirks and learn to support and like each other

strapples, perhaps you could tell me about this thread briefly. Was it a thread directed at flaming you? just curious.

Why do people cry "censorship" whenever they don't follow the rules posted?

Dokken. I was not sure if it was directly intended to flame or offend me but around the end of the threads life i was beginning to feel offended and upset... hence i requested it be locked...

Well, I read a small sample of the thread. It's not very interesting to me because I have no idea of what the people are talking about. But I suppose when the girl/guy kristameth made a certain comment about your name and making it into a website, I can see how you would find that offensive.

Well I was just curious, that's all. I have been noticing people whining about "censorship" online often. It's quite silly to me. Wanting to make a thread dedicated to "flaming" has got to be one of the more stupider things I have read. I don't see how productive that will be.

I agree Dokken... also the "go cry emo kid" thing was offending....

i really am sick of all the Internet "censorship" things...

he can and will without notice delete or lock things that he sees as inappropriate..

I thought the "I hate straps" post was a good, non-threatening way of certain people being able to vent a little about the fact that they're tired of all the freaking strap talk. I didn't see viciousness. It was frustration and a need to talk about something that's been bothering us.

I feel really s***ty right now because I'm feeling a little censored. I've always liked WP because of it's unique ability to filter out people who are really just out to be mean and insulting. Very few other forums do that. But what happens to the people who are able to voice dislike for things going on at WP- in an intelligent, rational, respectful way? Some of these people seem to be falling through the cracks too. I don't want to see that happen.

I really want to be able to voice my opinions here. Don't take that away from me. Maybe this is an overreaction, but I do tend to freak out when it comes to censorship.

I posted this in random because I didn't know where else to put it, and it's the same place the deleted thread I'm talking about was in. If it needs to be moved, please do so.

Another WP member and I got in a fight in another topic too, and I used a bunch of curse words etc, and she just egged us on. I get confused about the moderation here.

Stop trying to identify with the mods. Your not one. Good, he is the owner, he can do whatever he want. I'm not complaining about them, though others seem to think I am. Kristameth might be. I'm just complaining about you thinking you run this god damn forum.

That's not really what I was implying. I don't want a forum made for calling people fags or babies or whatever the hell. I didn't want the "I hate straps" thread to stay open so that I could throw insults and Strapples or try to make him cry, or make him feel ashamed for liking straps so much. I didn't intend to be offensive when I said I'd make a website called strapplanet.net, and the person who said they can see why that would be so horribly offensive is nutty. Yes. You're nutty.

I just want to be able to JOKE with people. I'm not good at using tact. Many people here aren't. I think this should be taken into consideration somehow by the mods.

No. I don't hate the mods. No. I don't hate Alex. Yes, I understand this is Alex's website. Yes, I understand there are rules. But I'm not the type of person to just "walk out the door" of somewhere I really want to be just because I don't like everything going on here. I know several people who'd like to see some changes. Change is good. There is nothing wrong with trying to make wrongplanet friendly for a wide variety of users.

I understand cursing, sexual talk, bluntness, is not everyone's forte. I don't want to offend those people. They deserve a sanctuary to come to where they don't have to deal with that. But I want somewhere to go where I can let it all out, too.

I don't have any real well formed ideas about what I'd like to see here at WP. But I'm hoping the tidbits I've written will help others to speak, too. I also hope that the mods will read this and keep it in their heads for future site tweaking, if they decide it to be necessary.

I just want to be heard, that's all. Don't put words in my mouth and try to make it into something it's not. They're just thoughts I wanted to share with you guys.

And I'm not "crying" censorship, by the way. I has no tears, biotch.

It really wasn't locked in order to censor anybody. The request was made to lock it and the moderator who first attended to that request felt that this seemed like the right course of action at the time. I thought about asking to reopen it after a chat with Strapples, to reassure him that people were just being silly in that thread, (we do not reverse another mod's decision without talking about it). In the end I just didn't think it was worthwhile. New amusing threads are created every day. I didn't foresee this upsetting anybody.

Bottom line: the intention of the mod who locked the thread was to help, not to censor. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

Also, I do believe that Strapples understands now that he ought not to request that threads be closed simply because he does not like the content. He can feel free to correct me or add to that. Please don't worry that this sort of action will become the norm on WP.

You can always just ask, too. That helps ward off misconceptions pretty quickly. I often get PMs along the lines of "hey what happened with xyz?" and I answer them as best I can without violating anybody's privacy.

Gwenevyn is also my hero, I want to be just like her when I grow up also.
