I thought about asking to reopen it after a chat with Strapples, to reassure him that people were just being silly in that thread, (we do not reverse another mod's decision without talking about it). In the end I just didn't think it was worthwhile. New amusing threads are created every day. I didn't foresee this upsetting anybody.

Bottom line: the intention of the mod who locked the thread was to help, not to censor. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

Also, I do believe that Strapples understands now that he ought not to request that threads be closed simply because he does not like the content. He can feel free to correct me or add to that. Please don't worry that this sort of action will become the norm on WP.

You can always just ask, too. That helps ward off misconceptions pretty quickly. I often get PMs along the lines of "hey what happened with xyz?" and I answer them as best I can without violating anybody's privacy.

That's exactly what I needed to hear.

I just get worried. Like I said, I enjoy coming to WP a lot. There's a lot of free speech that goes on here, in the sense that so much of the stuff on the site is stuff we wouldn't talk about anywhere else. I just don't want to lose that, yunno.

That smiley should be green. I also want to propose that WP gets ninja turtle smileys.

I think I will indeed add to you gwenevyn...

It Iis not that I don't just like the content it is that I find things that others may find as a "joke" t be offending to mr. Does not help that I am an autie on an aspie site. And I am a rather sensitive one at that.

Usually I'm a big proponent of insisting people put on their big girl panties and deal with it.
This IS a support board, however.
And I'm used to being censored on other boards *mutter*

.....of course that doesn't mean I don't think someone shouldn't strap on their big girl panties

edited for clarity because i apparently can't form sensical sentences after 10pm on tuesdays

Probably doesn't make these types of discussions any easier, when you consider the fact that not only are a lot of aspies blunt, they can also be pretty sensitive too. Kind of ironic.

You do realize that would take some surgery, right? That would be expensive, I'd try but most people aren't wild about the idea of being operated on by an unregistered surgeon in the back of a Chinese restaurant. So unless you have the money to make that commitment... :P

mm i guess this is where websites differ from real life - straps (or anyone else's) going on obsessively about their obsessions would get them ostracized, shunned, but here, you have to put up with it?

ugh. that's one of the good things about real life I spose.

Krista, i also hate how strappy can dish it out but not take it, and how his s**t is tolerated and protected in what seems a pretty hypocritical manner. i don't get it either. i didn't see the thread you are talking about. but i just found out today that if you download firefox and do all this crap, then you can block strapples and won't have to see his posts anymore. i know it doesn't really address the injustice of it, but i certainly think it will help.

yeah? but your idea of 'me' seems like a form of exhibitionism, you can't expect others to be delighted to have the 'audience' role forced on them. i don't know that the strap stuff is suitable for a general audience either.
