Does anyone else get this? Does anyone here know what causes it?

Before my period, I'll often (more than half the time) get symptoms that are like the early stages of a cold: a stuffy nose, sore throat and slightly elevated temperature being the most common. Unlike an actual cold, though, these disappear completely within 3 days.
They normally appear in the week before my period starts.

What's going on?

Your hormones are going crazy.

Before my period I get:

More meltdowns
Minor to moderate suicidal thoughts
Inner ear aches
Hyperactivity
The opposite of hyperactivity
Seizures
Migraines
Aching legs
My meds work half as well.
I get shaky, tingly.

I have PMDD too so the anger/depression is actually quite severe.

Your body is using energy preparing for a possible pregnancy, thus, you get cold, immune system is lowered ect.. Your immune system can also lower itself, because A.It's often the immune system which stops sperm from getting to the egg (sperm is foreign to a womens' body, so it trys to kill them off) and B.The immune system is often the cause of miscarriage, the is foetus also foreign to the womens' body.

I had this for about 5 or six months last year. Every month the day before my period I would become very ill with a fever, chills, horrible headache, dizziness... it was so bad for 3 of those months that I couldn't even get off the couch and had to miss work. two days of work. It took me a few months to make the connection. You know what it ended up being related to? My iron. it was low.

Iron is hard to get up with pills because they don't get absorbed well. You know what works the best? Flintstones chewables with iron, chew one int he morning and one at night. It's less iron than what you get in an iron supplement BUT since you are chewing it up you are getting a head start on absorbing it AND it won't constripate you near as bad.

I suggest getting your iron tested or you could just try the flintstones fro a month and if that doesn't work, get the iron tested or see a doc.
