Has anyone read the books or gone to the workshops. Some folks in my religious community have recommended these to me. Would you say that they help us cope and get along in society, or that they're just snake oil and do more damage than good? Would there be a specific way to apply these that works better with the autistic mind? Thanks in advance.

I bought the book, the handbook rather, on recommendation of a group therapist in 2006.

I never read it.

I bought the book, the original book that is, on the recommendation of a crisis therapist, two months ago. I haven't read it. It's collecting dust.

Basically, the book describes the premise and execution of CBT. Which might work for you but it doesn't work for me. I respond better to DBT and one-on-one.
