I've barely been on Facebook as of late; I stopped playing a game on there and in turn haven't been there as much.

Now for some reason people won't stop sending me sh*t for the game that would've been more helpful--y'know--when I was actually playing it.

Also I've been getting several notifications from people on there now--likely somewhat more than I did then.

What--have people suddenly started taking interest in me now that I no longer pay attention to them or something?

I mean...I've seen lots of TV shows where NTs suggest it all the time, but if that's true, good lord is that sad and pathetic...

probably they missed you.

I finally deleted mine. If I don't accidentally log back into it again (which has almost happened a few times in the last couple days) I will be gone from there forever in 14 days. I just can't take the new privacy violations...I wouldn't mind being on some social networking site again at some point, probably myspace, but I can't deal with facebook anymore, it's too creepy.

well the good news is whatever I have on Facebook is stuff that I have no problem pretty much sharing with anyone.

That's the stuff which which I'm an open book.

If I don't have it posted, it's something I don't feel like mentioning.

I can't stand MySpace.

My partner and I have a business MySpace page...but only to keep us up in the search engine.

The same happens to me. What I can gather is 'friends' want to send notifications to everyone who plays the game. Facebook also lets people know when they haven't written on someone's wall.

I find it to be true. It's not sad and pathetic, just the way people operate.

maybe I didn't explain it properly......I'm reminded of those situations where the guy is told "if you're interested in that girl, walk past her like she means nothing to you; she'll swoon right for you; but you have to look disinterested."

Do you see where I'm going with this?

I've long since added filters to keep all the Facebook game notifications hidden, but don't these things tend to reward people for harassing their friends and getting them sucked in? I'm pretty sure Farmville does. It seems plausible that the games might have a mechanism where, if a player's friend is absent for a while, the game prompts them to send notifications to that person so they'll be tempted to come back.

it's possible; I was playing "Mafia Wars", a Zynga game much like Farmville, and yes it certainly does do that.

No, it hasn't tempted me to come back; I guess my will power is stronger.

Whenever I see one of those kinds of games on my news feed, I block the application. Now I rarely see anything posted from some people. lol
