I found this neat article about how some people with autism are not susceptible to the Ebbinghaus illusion:

http://www.theautismnews.com/2009/11/24 ... -not-kids/

All of the circles looked the same to me and I couldn't see a size difference even when I knew which one was supposed to look bigger. Was anybody fooled? Schizophrenics are also supposed to have a decreased susceptibility to certain optical illusions (the hollow mask illusion).

On a side note, I found this fantastic website with tons of really cool illusions that I can see, stuff with movement and spinning and stuff, very impressive:

I didn't see a difference in size either.

The circles all seem the same size to me, as well.

My NT husband said the middle spot with the smaller spots around it looked bigger than the one with the larger spots around it. Or maybe the reverse.

The reverse spoke illusion on that site I linked is amazing--let's you change the speed and contrast, even. Illusions are so much fun!

You know, this illusion won Illusion of the Year and I can't see it. The inner text never looks like it stops.

The circles are most odd... While I see them as the same size, it simultaneously causes me to know they're not the same size while looking at them.

As for the text, it did indeed seem to lag as it was supposed to. Then again, I've never really had any visual context problems as some with autism have.

Weird, I'm not usually one to notice optical illusions...but I saw all the illusions.

They all did for me except the" misleading context" one ; this one didn't have a variation.

The other link with the rotational illusion didn't stop for me .

What was said in one study was that autistic people from a review of studies on the subject were both susceptible and nonsusceptible. It depended on the question being asked, I.e. "Which line is longer?" vs "Which line looks longer?"

But all those red circles look the same size to me no matter what I do.

I saw the first one. I think it has something to do with the outer big circles having an affect that makes the center circle seem smaller at first instinctual glance and vice versa for the other circle. If you stare at it you will see they are definitely the same size though. You kind of have to glance I guess. What I'm wondering is why a person would see it that way 'with life experience'. The second one looked smooth to me though. Not sure about that second one. I'm 25 if anyone wants to know my age.
