For me the first thing I notice on a man is his clothing and behaviour and then it gives me an idea of his social class.

As for women the first thing I notice about them is their hair and noses.

The first thing that I notice is their faces. I don't feel that there's any need to look anywhere else.

Strangely enough I also tend to first assess their threat status before analyzing them in any detail.

Nasal hair?

I guess I assess a lot of things very quickly. Couldn't say what was first.

For men, I notice their general appearance and almost no detail. Maybe their hair and clothing, if anything.

For women, I notice their eyes. My favorite eyes are blue ones with lighter color towards the center and a darker ring around the edge.

Women: Face, figure, and "fertility factors".
Men: Threat level - usually not significant.

Absolutely. I have my own way of feeling, which is what I do first...before noticing much else except perhaps male/female. I think it's probably similar to what you are both saying.

I normally notice their shoes first, but that's because I pretty much always stare at the ground.

I always look at people's hands as they approach me I am looking to see if the have anything in their hands or if their fists are clinched. Then I look at their faces to see if they have smile or a frown. Either way I still don't trust them. If it looks like there is something about to happen at least they won't catch me off guard. I have not been sucker punched since middle school and I want to keep it that way. I don't live in a great area. Its working poor but there are some really crappy areas you don't want to be daydreaming in. 8O

that they are there at all. i don't really focus on where i am going while i walk, i just put myself on automatic and let the world fade. if i do look again it is their eyes i notice. their eyes so intense and wide and colourful. beautiful to stare at yet so intense and revealing. i don't notice their garb unless i want their clothes or hair unless it is like everyone elses. i notice their walk though. and demeanor. slouching, hands in pockets, swagger, smooth stride, eye contact? the manner in which humans permabulate is most interesting.
