I know that autism is fairly common among severe autism but is it common among people with 'High Functioning Autism' & Asperger Syndrome' too? I know someone with HFA or AS can have epilepsy, just like anyone can, but if they do, is it actually linked to their autism or is it just that they would have had it anyway? If your high functioning & epileptic, let me know.

I have epilepsy and have aspergers. I am not sure whether they are linked as I only recently found out that I have aspergers.

I have HFA and suffer from tremors. There have occassions where I've suffered from epileptic fits. I'm still unsure what the cause of them but they don't happen often.

I don't have epilepsy, but I have AS.
Daniel Tammet is a good example of someone with AS/HFA who has it; he nearly died during a seizure when he was about four. He's truly a gifted man nowadays. Very cool.

They are common for both.

Extreme epilepsy can cause developmental delay and disqualify someone for a diagnosis of Asperger's, though.

They are commonly found together. Having an ASD greatly increases the chance that you will also have epilepsy. Most likely it has to do with the fact that both things involve atypical brain structure.
