Did your parents ever put you in a mental hospital?

That is pretty good advise.
Try that in my house and the only thing you'll break is your hand/knuckles.
The first time I watched someone in the movies punching a hole on a wall I thought it was "movie magic", but my husband explained to me in United States walls are made of a material very similar to gypsum board, so it is very easy to punch a hole on them. In my country walls are made of concrete, so you would break your knuckes/hand/wrist trying to do that.
I kind of figure that if someone is punching holes in walls, he's also learning to repair them; but I guess that's not a given.

I just about died inside when I read this, accompanied by numerous flashbacks... I'm gonna try to get through this paragraph... My parents, recently divorced at the time, were in your situation, nearly exactly and I threw one too many fits and was put into a mental hospital for 10 days ( my dads idea) Those were the worst days of my life and I have nightmares to this day. You have the right understanding, hospitalization is not the right thing! You just need to find a Dr. Who will help you and your son. Now, whether you end up like my parents is another story entirely, but your focus should be on him, he needs you and you are likely the only one who matters to him. Try and work things out, that's what you have to do. Just remember, He loves you.
However I am thankful for how I've turned out and love my life how it is. But that's after many years of confusion, and my Moms love and support and my doctor. I wish you and your son the best.
(now, just remember you got all that from a 16 year old sleep deprived Aspie )
I need to go to sleep

Yet another reason why we, Americans, suck. You know, if we didn't build houses out of wood and sheetrock, they wouldn't get destroyed anywhere near as easily. You guys have it all figured out; steel and concrete is the way to go. Now, all you need are solar shingles, but I guess I've already gone far enough off topic.

...Trust me. You send him to a mental hospital; it will traumatize him and just make things worse.....AS isn't an insanity.
Reiterate that to your husband.
He has AS...
he isn't insane...
What he needs is the support of his family and a good therapist.
Protect your son... don't let your husband's lack of compassion turn that boy's life into a circus event...
