We've been talking about what sounds we hate, but which do you actually like?

I like the sounds of
- Rain
- Thunder
- Storm
- Wind blowing through trees
- Waves
- Waterfalls
- The scratching of pencils on paper
- SOMETIMES people eating or chewing gum, depends on the person and the way she eats
- everything that's constant and has lots of white noise

There are sounds I don't like, but otherwise, most sounds I don't mind or can just filter out during the day. But I like some noises at night, like:-

Clocks ticking
Rain tapping on the window or wind roaring - or both! And thunder, although we don't get many thunderstorms any more here, unfortunately
My stomach gurgling (although this can be embarrassing and unsettling for me when sleeping in a room with someone else)

Crunching - Ice, leaves, snow, potato chips (especially folded over ones-double crunch!), but not any critters. I can't bear the sound of poor little creatures being stepped on.

That creaky sound a can makes when you open it lol.

The wind blowing through trees, when it makes that swishy, whirly sound.

Running water.

Morgan Freemans narrator voice.

A solid beat.

Kittens mewing.

High heels clicking on a concrete floor.

I love the sound of:
Flowing water
Distant thunder
Woodwinds, especially warmer ones like cedar flute and ocarina
a running fan, thought that's more of a noise canceling thing
boiling water
wind chimes
my combat boots on wood floors
a crackling camp fire

Most Woodwind instruments, a piano, rain, the fan running, birds singing, crows cawing, the flutter sound of a mourning dove taking off, cats mewing, steps in an otherwise quiet hallway...

The sounds of most 80's groups.

But, not ABC.

Not ABC!

Trains in the distance at night
Cicada's in the trees after dark
The river in the summer at dawn or dusk
The sound of old glasspacks
A fire in the fireplace
A football game on tv in the next room without the screaming at the television on a cold winters day while eating chili
People swinging on those old tall swingsets with the long chains holding them up
Thunder
Tornado sirens (air raid sounding sirens here)
18 Wheelers going by on a highway close by, but only in the summer
Church bells that play the songs (I forgot what they are called) as well as regular ones
A calliope at the fair
Hard rain outside when I'm in the house, not the car though
Fall leaves when you walk through them
Cats in heat (but only outside)
My dogs howling early in the morning (my neighbors hate that I'm sure)

Thats about all I can think of off the top of my head. I know all my stuff is cliche, but it's what I like.

the sound of a well tuned sports car
jet engines starting up
steam engines
thunder
wind
my ruger 10-22 with subsonic ammunition
the sound of my pump action shot gun chambering a shell

Severe thunder storms, storm sirens, fog horns, and gunfire are among my favorite "stim" sounds... Mostly anything with a heavy low frequency and lack of high frequencies, and LOUD, can be pleasurable, but anything with a high pitch or squeal, or children shrieking and yelling, is intolerable regardless of volume.

Baby/young child laughter
Cat purrs
Trains in the distance
Wind blowing hard (but not the weird moaning it does sometimes--that creeps me out)
Traffic/sirens in the distance
My car motor starting (YAAAY!! !)
The melodious trill my captioning program makes when I tell it to do something and it can't do it (sometimes I'll keep clicking "find next" over and over at the end of the file just to hear it)
The toaster-oven timer dinging.

Forgot about steam. I love any sort of mechanical sound, especially those associated with steam powered machinery.
