Do any of you Aspies ever experience meltdowns, or did you when you were younger? If so, what are they like? (ie crying, yelling, swearing, etc) I have AS, but I never had a meltdown, although there were times where I probably felt like having one.

I nearly had a melt down today when every time I thought I'd fixed my puncture I found a new hole.

I have meltdowns every now and then. Just leave me alone for a while and all will be well.

I have meltdowns very now and then. They're less now than they used to be in primary. I have meltdowns when people bully me, or there's a change in what I do which is not planned. When I have a meltdown, I burst into tears and start crying, and I can't calm myself down very easily. Occasionally I also shout at people, but this is only when they really annoy me during a meltdown.

I have meltdowns a lot. They usually build up over time but are seen as sudden outbursts of crying, swearing, throwing things.

I can have them over change especially when it's out of my control. I can have them when people upset me and even if I'm tired and force myself to keep going out.

I had them when I was younger too all the time. If my family wanted to go out for a picnic I'd cry and scream and when we'd go home after I adjusted I'd cry and scream. I also hated doing new things and would act out. Sometimes I had the old fashioned tantrum when I wanted to get my own way, it related to my routine though.

Lately I've been having a lot of meltdowns, but I actually didn't when I was younger. When I was younger I had shutdowns and my reactions to certain situations while I was in college swapped them over towards meltdowns far more often.

As for what its like, rage meltdowns and depressive meltdowns are different, but both are centered around a lack of control. In a rage meltdown (far rarer for me), I'll scream at people things that I don't even remember after it happens. In a depressive meltdown, instead of screaming its uncontrollable sobbing. In both situations I might kick things or throw things that are unlikely to hurt anything, but that doesn't always occur. Afterwards I'll have an incomplete memory of how I felt such that I can't actually explain that aspect to people whenever they ask.

Every meltdown is different for me.

My meltdowns, though infrequent, used to involve kicking and throwing things. I pretty much have that under control. But, I still have meltdowns and they're more like shutdowns, where my brain just freezes on me. I had one yesterday while working on a project that had a deadline I needed to meet and my e-mail wouldn't work, then I received a phone call that a job for this weekend was cancelled—I just sat there, frustrated and stuck. I also was breathing heavy and felt my muscles all tense up. So I left things there, went shopping just to get my mind off of things, then came back later when I felt better.

I do experience meltdowns, and they worsen everytime I work. For the past three weeks, I snapped at virtually everyone at the workplace, and when I am on the phone and customers keep on interrupting me when I speak (for the record, I hate being interrupted when I talk), I press the mute button and throw fits and curse. I even came down to a point when I was really crying, I snapped at my supervisor, and was actually tearing paper in front of her. Afterward, I felt I lost track of what actually happened afterward, and I felt like a sore loser afterward, keeping on saying sorry...

Thank God I am free from that misery.
