This articles comes from the 1930's right? It is so backward thinking.

My dad was a Yoga teacher and my mum worked in banks, pizza joints and a call centre.

And I am Autistic. Utter bollocks theory.

My mother was more smothering me with love than withholding it from me. I have three other non-autistic siblings too. And I was fussed over (with love) the most.

How can a psychologist (I think I just answered my own question there) dismiss all the neuroscience research done that has found evidence of a difference in the brains of autistic people to typically developing people?

I am a parent most likely ASD I believe, but as a parent my life is my children its BS of the highest and most insulting. With this kind of attitude how do all of as a society respect each other?

1) This is what happens when people think autism is just a collection of social interaction difficulties and don't also look at sensory issues and executive functioning.

2) It's also an argument for hoping to increasingly replace psychology with neurology. The Western concept of mental health is not always necessarily very healthy, and that's a longstanding tradition by now.

Wow, the "refrigerator mother" theory. What a blast from the past. A stake was put through it's heart decades ago, but I guess some people find it so irresistable that they have to reanimate it.

It does look like a case of "if the only tool you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail."
