Meetings with Aspies in my city would be great if there weren't ALWAYS one or two who take up all the conversation space and the rest have to shut up for hours looking at the ceiling and nodding once in a while. I don't need to be the center of the party, but to shut up I prefer to stay home with my cats, my internet, my music, and do something productive. I've also always been allergic to having to listen for hours to someone monologuing about things I couldn't care less about. I just feel I'm going to explode and must leave.

I'm still checking out what everyone is having to say on this, and appreciate all feedback I've gotten so far.
I wish there was some kind of group for AS people here locally, but this far from any city there just isn't, that I am aware of.....Too bad for me! :(
I still will welcome PMs from those of you willing to send one. I don't usually get on the internet every day, so may not answer real quick. Just wanted that fact to be known! :)

I'll see if I have any more responses, soon!

I have a hard time keeping in touch with people. I have a hard time initiating contact in any form, whether it is approaching someone, sending an email or instant message, and especially with making phone calls.

I find these replies to be interesting. I very rarely feel "lonely". I'm perfectly at peace being by myself. Most of the time I don't even try to initiate contact with others.

It is rare that I feel lonely, though I definitely relate to what others are saying about feeling alone even when with others. I just prefer my company to that of anyone elses, most of the time.

I am often lonely, but when I try to reach out, people just give me that "he is so WEIRD" look! Am I suffering alone, or do I have company? I'd sure love to make some female friends, here! :)
I feel the same way all the time.

I actually don't mind having few friends - socialization is very tiring to me, and boring - I'd rather just be alone and do things I love doing all the time.

I like to socialise .. but not every day...to me it is exciting to meet new people, especially if we have common interests...and I generally prefer f2f versus online,,, you get to see what people are really like... but hey it is a spectrum
