Do you find (as I do) that when you type long communications by text, that you miss out a lot of commas for instance, so when you read it back before sending, you realise that it is really like when you monologue verbally, and you need to back track to add in commas all over the place to make it more readable for the recipient? It's like once you get into typing mode you are thinking in monologue style and it comes out in that style without you even thinking.

Actually, what I find is an overuse of ... an over use of -- -- and an overuse of ( ). I think it is how I try to mimic the way my brain spits things out to me. Relevant statement relevant statement relavent statement--loosely related statement--relevant statement relevant statement...side thought...relevant statement relevant statement ( statement that I think explains something but others might find irrelevant) relevant statement, etc.

I overuse ellipses and commas a lot. orz

Also, I've noticed that my sentences can run on a bit (leading to a lot of two-sentence paragraphs)... does that count? Actually, come to think of it, do I even monologue? I can't tell.

I try to keep my monologues grammatically correct. Probably like 70% of my posts here are monologues.

I definitely overuse exclamation marks. Because I'm a serious person, maybe anything stronger in emotion is worthy of an exclamation mark! You see!

On the subject of monologing, in my perception, there is more of it here than other forums I have gone to that include a lot of Aspies. I find there is less back-and-forth communication and a lot more of people just expressing their thought on a subject and leaving it at that.

I tend to overuse the semicolon; it annoys some people. :)
