For the record.

Over

Am male, and on the spectrum.

But to see the results I checked "over and other and autistic".

Am I the only person who prefers under?

And it's totally related to autism because it's a very important question with very important statistical significance.

This question usually turns up on 4chan on a regular basis.
Anyone who chooses under is just plain wrong.

Hmm, I never thought of this as being something to think about other than a quirk, but I absolutely CANNOT stand the toilet paper to be under. It HAS to be over or I get very irritated and have to fix it. lol

I used to not care, but I lived with my dad for a short while and he cared. Now I still set it to 'over' out of habit. If a child and a cat (thankfully none of our cats are interested) decides to make a toy out of it, I'll set it to under.

It rolls easier when set under, it tears before I want it to when it's over.

Over. If I find one that's under, I change it.

"Over" - and very purposefully because my ex-husband who was very abusive insisted the roll go "under." If I put the roll "under", I still feel like he is making me do so. It has been many years, but I do not forget so easily. I defy him

i wonder if it is because the under people like to "grab and go" whereas the over people like to precisely tear off individual tiles?

Assuming that your roll of toilet paper is mounted horizontally(and not vertically)- when you pull off a piece of toilet paper for use- does it come off the roll over the TOP of the roll- or- from underneath the roll? Or more to the point - do you mount the roll to go over, or to go under?

Got it?

it seems to me that the under enthusiasts like to work harder at getting to their tp, because instead of simply reaching to the closest tile and ripping one off, the under folks have to reach all the way back underneath, affix part of the dangling loose sheets to the wall with one hand while gingerly tearing off a segment. that is a much harder task, IMHO. i also observed that many women like the under style because they like to just grab handfuls of the stuff and it hides the messiness of that technique behind the roll.

There are people who like to precisely tear off individual tiles? I just keep rolling it off until it looks like I have enough, then rip the whole thing off at the end.

 Well, I don't even have my toilet paper on a holder. It sits on the edge of the bathtub. So it depends how I pick it up. But, I move it to another area of the bathroom so it don't get all wet.
