You might want to post in the 'kid's crater' forum on this site (http://www.wrongplanet.net/forum15.html), other children might be able to put it across to you in a way you will be able to relate.

Asperger's syndrome is a high-functioning autism condition. It means that you might have some areas of your brain not working so well and others working exceptionally well (often better than average!)

You may have special interests, problems with making friends or understanding what people mean when they say or do things. You might like routines a lot, and you might suffer with anxiety. There are a few more things too.

Concrete thinking is kind of factual stuff, stuff that you can see whereas abstract thinking is the ability to imagine different things and different meanings for things.

A metaphor is a saying that people use to describe something else. For instance "it's raining cats and dogs", of course it's not really raining cats and dogs but it means it's raining heavily. Cats and dogs are obviously a lot heavier than raindrops!

She talks mainly about autistic people in general on the whole spectrum.

I agree. OP is an 11 year old little girl, I can't believe such harsh replies, it's wholly unnecessary.

I am a elven year old girl turning 12 on may 2nd
my mom keeps bringing up that i have some form of autism
& that I'm lucky that i don't have such a severe case
( which i don't exactly agree w/ )
i have plenty of friends
i know how to talk to them all
I've come over to their houses
& they've come over to mine

she also says that most autism people won't look you in the eye

Have you been diagnosed, or at least been for an assessment, or is your mum just thinking you might have it for some reason?

Picking out my own traits was mostly impossible for me to do at age 11 as being autistic is natural for me, although I always noticed I often had different intrests, found meny of my classmates to be sort of strange, never understood how people got into the latest fads or why they always wanted to dress the same etc. I got in trouble alot for little werid things aswell. Do you identify with anything I wrote?
