Self-explanatory, but since there is a thread like this for women, I should make a male equivalent here.
----
My story goes way back. To about 1988/89; when I was 2-ish. My mom thought I was deaf when every time she would call me, I would not respond. Turns out I as an Aspie; and it's been kind of a rough quarter century for me since, in some ways.

No formal Dx, but I strongly suspect it's true. I figured it out about 4 months ago, at age 38.

Ya have to keep in mind I was most likely one of the first people to have been Dx w/ Aspie's at a time when awareness for said condition was being raised to the point it is now.

I was diagnosed at age seven, but my parents didn't tell until I was seventeen.

I was in my mid-fifties when Dx'd.

I first suspected I had AS only about 2 years before my Dx, when I completed the AQ test online. I had come across the test by chance, and expected to get an average score. I didn't.

Also officially dx'd recently in my mid fifties.
Though I actually come off as ambiguously in-between in those online tests.

I got diagnosed around the 4th grade; although that's at least when my mom told me.

I was diagnosed at age 3 or so during a period where I was unable to speak. I began to speak (and quite well actually) again at age 4 a few months after being diagnosed.

Though it was brought up that I was likely on the spectrum when I was 4, I wasn't diagnosed until around 15 or 16.

I may not be answering the question as I haven't got a diagnosis yet. I'm in my early 40's and heard about Asperger's for the first time only a few weeks ago. Many of the symptoms describeed on various websites fit my symptoms/characteristics and I'm very sure I have it. I'm intending to see specialists soon. If I do have it, it will explain why my life has been how it has been and it will be a huge relief to know it.

I was diagnosed when I was around 11. no one ever told me anything so I spent 10 years thinking everyone was calling me a ret*d or something. I got put in special needs and no one explained why. so I resisted any help because I just wanted to be treated like a normal person. after all those years I took the aspie quiz because of a thread on 4chan. I scored almost all aspie and started reading about aspergers. idk if its been a relief or not.

35.

However, I knew something was "off" by age 14 and have been working on (crude) social coping mechanisms ever since.

I was in high school before I was diagnosed (2001), so the diagnosis, while it explained a lot, didn't help me with other people because I'd already been labeled as "the guy in the corner who no-one should ever hang out with cause he's wierd".

Actually that's about the time when my faith in humanity started taking it's turn to what it is now (cynical).

35, but most people weren't diagnosed unless they were pretty extreme, when I was a kid.

I was like 2, when I got diagnosed, in 1988/89 as stated above, does that make me one of the earliest?
