Does it actually get better or do people just say that to make young people feel better? Based on what I see in this forum it does not get better. Anyone want to prove me wrong?

It does get better as you get more experience in life. That's been my experience. That's proof enough, in my book.

Hate to break it to you, but no, it doesn't get better.

I guess it depends on what you mean by better. As we get older or more experienced we might learn coping strategies that might help us deal with things better but do the symptoms themselves get better? They have not really for me.

No, eventually the government sends out trained assassins to hunt you down. I'm still reeling from the last attempt, I got 2 of the ninjas with my crossbow, another died in the moat, but I think there's one still lurking about....

I know one thing that has definitely gotten better, the taste of that tooth powder that the dentist uses during that biannual cleaning! :D

What makes it better:

Having/developing a positive attitude.
Accepting yourself as you are; loving yourself.
Having a support network of understanding family and/or friends
Learning to: cope, overcome, and grow outside beyond what is presently comfortable.

What keeps it "not better"

Negative thinking.
Being down on yourself for your differences.
Being isolated, no support.
Not coping, too defeated to attack obstacles, imprisoned within one's comfort levels.

Just my opinion based on my own experiences; could be right or wrong when compared to anyone else's life.

Over the years I've had a lot of bad luck (broken relationships, drug abuse, alcoholism, jail, psych institutions and homelessness). I even tried suicide once. All of these things lasted for years but I'm alive today. Living a clean life as I am now is new to me so I'm just getting used to it. I guess it does get better but it sure takes a long time.

Redrobin, that is so awesome that you made it through the hard times and are living clean. That is something to be really proud of and grateful for. Many people don't make it. I personally think it's awesome and you inspire me.

That depends on what you are referring to. Are you referring to the symptoms, or life in general?

Or Barium? Because that definitely has not gotten better.

Yes, it can get a lot better. Generally, when you know better, you do better. WP has helped me a lot.

Better or worse is just a state of mind. You live, you face obstacles, you overcome them and sometimes have days/weeks/months where everything seems to get better.

But I agree with the others. With experience comes wisdom and a whole lotta coping mechanisms that help take the burden off of you.
