Do you think that Sensory Processing Disorder/Sensory Integration Dysfunction is on the autism spectrum?

It depends on the individual.

There could, at least theoretically, people who have these disorders but do not have autistic symptoms, otherwise. I've seen NTs hypersensitive to sensory input.

Similar to NLVD: a close cousin to Aspergers--but a separate disorder, nevertheless.

Hard to say because I believe they are part of it but you can have those and not be on the spectrum.

Officially no
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) criteria CDC

Quote:
Individuals who have marked deficits in social communication, but whose symptoms do not otherwise meet criteria for autism spectrum disorder, should be evaluated for social (pragmatic) communication disorder.

Indiana Resource Center for Autism - Diagnostic Criteria for Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder
Quote:
D. The symptoms are not attributable to another medical or neurological condition or to low abilities in the domains of word structure and grammar, and are not better explained by autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability (intellectual developmental disorder), global developmental delay, or another mental disorder.

Unofficially there has been little or no discussion of how much, how and why this is being diagnosed.

The thread is about sensory processing disorder, not social communication disorder.
