Her description was spot on for me. I often feel like my limbs are too heavy to move, and like I'm not really part of the world anymore. I often want to hide under objects like blankets or tables during my shutdowns, and even ordinary sensory input becomes too much to deal with. I set up a small child-sized tent in my basement that I go and sit in when I'm shutting down at home, and it's helpful. It makes me feel safer, like the rest of the world is blocked out, and I can just let my brain turn itself off for a few hours.
