I tend to " spoonerize " spelling at times when I misspell/mis-type , reversing two letters in a word...gant instead of gnat , or agte instead of gate. ???????

I do that a lot when typing. Even typing this post. I accidentally typed "fdo" instead of "do" and put an "8" in the word "typing". I edit my posts and retype stuff a lot. I mix letters around too.

Well some words utilize letter combinations that are unnatural for the human brain/hands so when typing quickly or without paying attention they tend to transpose themselves.

I think theres even a name for it but I cant recall.

In any case its because the standard keyboard layout wasnt designed for ease of use but rather to prevent stuck keys in manual typewriters.

I spoonerize often, especially when talking. Its pretty funny to everyone . . . except me.

I do all sort of things; sometimes I even type a completely different potato.

I accidentally reverse letters' places and even add new letters, while typing, as well. It's unpreventable unless you look at the keyboard while typing... and the name for it is making typographical errors, shortened to making typos.

However, on the subject of spoonerisms, I have made quite a few spoonerisms both consciously and unconsciously.

I do that sometimes when I'm making notes in lectures or typing.

I think the thuing with typing is its somehwat of a fast thing to be doing, and whilst you know where the keys are its somewhat easy to press them in the wrong order.

I often find that whilst haveing a conversation though, I will start saying a spoonersim, realise its wrong halfway (the "huh that doesn't sound quite right" feeling) but then carry on saying it for the amusement of those around me.

I often mistype because by regular mistake. But sometimes things also get mixed up in my head, which means that I write a word, possibly with some letters mixed, and where I have one or two letters on top of my memory that I know I missed, but that I don't have a clue where they should go, for a second. In these situations, I have to re-read what I just wrote and find the place for the missing letters.
However, I rarelt misspell words, ie think that an incorrect spelling is correct.

It is a thought disorder like spoonerism. I actually do no joke. I have been known to write completely different word, but mostly it is vaguely related. It has happened to me while speaking but less often.

Admittedly I don't know what "spoonerize" means (?), but I suppose this thing of reversing letters happens to me when I've written for a longer time and/or have to write quickly. The chances seem to get constantly higher then that when trying to write for example "gate" I'll start with "gt.." or first write "ate" and then put the "g" before it or that I'll confuse similar letters such as "b" instead of "p".
As said, it only happens when I have to write a lot or fast though and it's also like when I make a spelling mistake like this I realize already about a second afterwards that it's wrong.

Spoonerize comes from the Reverend Spooner, who regularly used to reverse the positions of letters in words when he spoke.
