http://drphil.com/shows/show/634/

In the part where they're in the studio, Dr. Phil calls it a "disease" at one point.

I don't really like the way they say "warning signs"...

Dr. Phil does not seem very informed... or is he just being really tactful?

Does it really matter what Dr Phil "thinks"?

Yes it does. A lot of people take his word for Gospel. We should send him our message.

what IS "our" message?

people that think what you 'have' is a disease, then they can point to your explanations as 'rationalization' and 'justification' and then dismiss your explanation as one of the "symptoms"

of course, there is nothing wrong with Dr. Phil! Just ask him!

We had some threads in the past on him. He has the same problem we all have to a degree. Which is not being an expert on everything and/or not being able to empathise with people in different situations. The main problem is he is quoting things based on those misguided beliefs to alot people with no real accountability.

And Dr Phil is wrong. Perhaps some of our board members in the USA can do something about it?

Dr. Phil doesn't love us. But, if I am in fact 'diseased' then I hope I am virulently contagious. Can I be on the show? I might inadvertently cough on Dr. Phil <ooooo......passive aggressive>

Once I had the flu with a very high fever. I took Theraflu too out of necessity. I do not like having to take medicine but I was really sick. I was lying on the couch delusional with fever and I watched an episode of Dr. Phil. I'm not a TV watcher usually, but, again, high fever. I do not remember what the program topic was BUT I was having (flu drug induced?) sexual fantasies about Dr. Phil (he appeals to my daddy fixation). I think that's revealing enough, yes?

So how are we going to change that? Let them think we're disabled. Then, people think less of us, which could hold us back. Worst of all, aspies could grow up thinking of themselves as "disabled" and use it as an excuse.

Dr. Phil is a moron. He has no clue what he's talking about and he's the LAST person I'd take any advice from. The only people that trust him seem to be ret*ds.

Dr Phil has a mass audience. The most important thing is to educate the public on Aspergers and this is one way to do it. If he will do his research it would be a great teaching tool.

I'm form Texas but do not really sound like him but lets not judge people on their voices. Alot aspies have major speech problems.
