I can get very chatty if an interesting conversation sparks about anything... it rarely happens though. I like people, I just don't like how unpredictable their responses are, so refrain from going out and meeting them.

i start a conversation with most people......well atleast i try. waitress, person sitting next to me, who ever really. think it is because i so rarely i get to talk to people.

i think i part of the reason i rarely go out is because no one ever wants to do anything with me. so not really seeing the point to go out and meet people if the only thing that will happen is i am disapointed. i know i know. "keep trying" but i mean there's a limit!

yeah, it definitely hits a point where it's just exhausting and I can only see it as work and no more fun, lol... to keep people talking to me. I have a really hard time when someone does start talking to me, then walks off. Granted, that is how they handle conversations, it just isn't generally how I do it, lol, and it can be frustrating.

I work retail (which has been a great help for my social skills and eye-contact) so I am an antisocial "people-person". I do enjoy people but if my workplace is very busy or I work too many days in a row my social abilities tend to deteriorate immensely to the point where I can't make eye contact and I will stutter and mix up words.

For me being an antisocial "people-person" has its drawbacks since being out in the social world allows me to feel better and understand the world a bit better but also is very draining and my lack to ability always catches up with me.

I guess when trying to be social I always feel like I am on the outside looking in.

Yes, I'm like that, too.
I love being around people as long as the surroundings are not too sensorily overloading. I can't socialize properly in places like malls or clubs because of the abundance of distractions. My brain doesn't filter them out, and I can become extremely exhausted after a short period of time in these places.

You mean asocial, rather than antisocial.

I'm introverted, autistic, and probably of the schizoid PD make, so yeah, I'm asocial.

I am very social amongst people that fall within my boundary. If I'm dumped into a room of people I don't know or where I haven't set the boundaries, I'm a wallflower.

I'm absolutely fine with people in short bursts. and irregulary. Like this course im on, I was fine yesterday, really motivated to be outgoing (day 1). But today I jsut could not be bothered, I want to go back to being on my own now.

I think I'm an antisocial people person, I can chat to someone and have a conversation with them fine as long as it doesnt hold any commitments or no spur of the moment things which could interrupt my routine or make me feel uncomfortable

This.

I've been doing much better socially though I still hate talking to a group of people. I'll be fine for a day then on the next day I will slowly become tired, irritated and rather be on my own.

Same here. It's best when kept very low-key, or in short bursts. I have trouble being extremely social two days in a row. Once, I had to volunteer at a festival with a group of people for 3 days: from Friday night until Sunday night, with only 12 hour breaks in-between. I was very outgoing on Friday, but on Saturday I was already totally drained (didn't interact much at all) even though on Friday I only volunteered from 6 PM to 12 PM. Saturday was a full day (from 12 PM until around midnight), so imagine how exhausted I was on Sunday... 8O
Everyone else around me did not seem to get tired at all.

I usually don't go out unless it's a campus event, something I'm interested in going, shopping, or going to conventions.

Yes, same here.

I'd say that I'm opposite of the original post. I'm out amongst people every day, but on most days I'm either too anxious to talk to them, or I just can't be bothered. And then there are days when I'm sociable.

I like people and being around them, but only a select few. So yeah I am a asocial people person, I am social but only comfortable with friends.
