Who tends to have better/happier lives? Aspies or NTs
I can sit in the corner all lunch time, on my own and not be upset about no-one wanting to talk to me. With an NT teenage girl, I'm pretty sure they'd spend all lunch time in the toilets crying. I'm happy to be on my own.
I'm also easily amused, like I can spend hours just working Pi out on a piece of paper or such. For a NT, this is probably incomprehensible. I also get consistent joy from spending hours on my computer, unlike most NTs who get bored after 30 minutes. Obviously that doesn't apply to all NTs and not all Aspies get joy from what I do, but I think the majority can be amused and entertained with simple objects and without any social engagements.
I guess it depends on how much a NT can socialize and how much a Aspie can indulge in their interests.
I voted Aspie though.
EMZ=]
Exactly my thoughts
How the hell do you work out Pi? I'd like to do that!
22 divided by 7 xD.
EMZ=P
According to my computer, 22 divided by 7 is 3.1428571... when Pi is actually 3.1415926535...

I guess you're right xD. The link says 355/113 is more accurate.

More accurate but still not fully. I guess I'll still keep the super computer around for my Pi calculating needs
I'm happier being aspie, I believe I have the ability to apreaciate a lot of things more then most NT's (Only because certain things come so easy to them). And I doubt my mind would be as open, or I'd be half as able to focus on any one given thing as well as I can now.
But sometimes I'd give anything for the unvolentary social panicking and not being able to get something that bugs me out of my mind to just go away.
But it's true that I have almost no stress on my performence academicly, its like 90% social stress.

FYI, I didn't vote on the poll, the issue is a little too black and white.
I will say that I did suffer from a major depression disorder and social anxiety. I don't know for sure if ASD was connected to this or not. I'm going to guess it was to a degree but also probably due to chemical imbalances in the brain. ASD kind of makes it worse for me in terms of sensory issues and social issues along with the social anxiety....eeek

NTs are less affected by stress, anxiety and depression, therefore- happier.
Not true, it's just that their stress etc. is caused by other things.
maybe if aspies lived in a non-social world that would have been true. but if you have anxiety caused by social problems and change, then you are doomed to high stress levels for life in this uber-social world.
NT stress is uncomparable, because they find comfort in socialising.
at least that's what I think, so I voted for NTs being on the happy side.

But Aspies find comfort in other things which work just as well for relieving stress.
In contrast, NTs may find things like computers stressful when Aspies may find them the complete opposite.
And NTs regularly have problems with their friends (falling out, having arguments).

true, but what I meant was: we live in a social world, or- we are a part of a very social species.
imagine that all humans were loners, and that only very meaningfull and fact-laden conversations about complex things would be seen as normal.
and all humans would be expected to be highly intelligent and have some intense interests.
imagine that nothing would change.
now put an average NT in that world. they would go crazy rather quickly I think, reaching comparable stress and depression levels as people on the spectrum have in a world that is it's perfect opposite.

It's not as plain as that though since I'm not the only Aspie on the world, neither are you. Plus, Aspies can talk to NTs generally for short conversations daily without too much stress once they get used to it.

yeah well, but you can't compare the volume, they outnumber us so massively...
I don't need other people, aspie or not, to be happy anyway. just the expectation to need people and to interact with them in certain ways causes me stress.
I think I'd be much happier with my brain straightened out. but maybe it's just me :p

Well it is annoying that people need to talk to eachother all the time but to be honest no one talks to me these days except a few friends who I'm comfortable with so perhaps that's why it aint such a problem for me.
