Does your ASD become more pronounced/extreme?

I am recovering from a virus at the moment, and for some reason seem to be more overly ASD than usual. Like, my already low "decoder" is completely down. People's use of language just messes with my head, and my mind is completely in literal mode...seriously...like I'm a machine or something. (maybe I am *checks body for metal parts* :D:D:D)

Do you also notice this?

no,but am have more 'incidents' and a lot more headbanging, not caused by the actual virus or illness but just ways at trying to communicate it to staff when fed up with it.used to get given painkillers, but one of the staff [thankfully now ex] got the amount very reduced, took off PRN [as required] and switched to set times only.

am can become very tired around viruses/illnesses,not good because most staff think it's laziness.
and when am really being a lazy sod, they think there's something wrong.

My son is severely autistic and his autistic traits definitely get worse during and just after a virus. It has happened too often now to be a co-incidence. He gets more aggressive and stims almost constantly. It makes sense when you think that a virus takes over host cells and affects the entire bodily system. Any neurological difficulties would most likely become more pronounced in it's wake.

Yes, especially sensory issues and conversaiton skills. I often end up missing class for minor illness due to increase in AS symptoms.

Same here Zep. I can't stand light, and my conversation/understanding ability just dies on me.

I don't know. When I get sick, I normally just want to sleep, sleep, sleep, and nothing but sleep.
