leather jerkins. huh. once one could rent such items at the costume store across in the 'forbidden' section of downtown, among others, was sad to hear they were closing...

What a pity when the most exciting stores in town close!

My ribs are 100% now. Absolutely fine. Would have run again this morning but was lazy when I saw how windy it was earlier on.

The one store I really liked, Avalon, was closed in early 2006. It was an awesome place that specialized in horror, sci-fi and fantasy, and they didn't just have the main stream stuff. They could offer a broad variety within those genres. Sadly they moved, and another book store, with some of the same stuff but more main stream, took over their old place, and Avalon lost customers. I bet a lot of people thought they had just been bought up and were unaware of the move. They move during summer, and I only knew because I happened to visit and saw them stacking away books in boxes and asked if they were closing.
I still wish they were around. Great shop and great employees, who were friendly and service minded.
