Do you exercise to look good, or to feel good?

To feel good. I've been exercising for as long as I can remember, never with the intention to look like a stud - I don't have issues with my appearance.

Body image. I exercise daily and am getting stronger; that's rewarding too.

Both, I was originally concerned about my health, but also despite I am 160 lbs and 5'8 tall I feel I am fat and desire a well toned, trim body. The sort protrayed in fitness magazines. Already in the 2 months I have worked out in the gym, body wise I am beginning to look like a jock. I feel both males and females in the future will see an first impression of me as an athletic regular jock guy.

I'm starting to get pecs, my biceps are well developed and my thigh and calf muscles are well developed. I feel I still have work to go in developing the upper body and getting rid of the beer gut which I am deeply ashamed of. I would want to crank up my working out to seven days of week, instead of three and starting taking protein shakes to get my body worked out quicker.

I went to a public gym when I was 16. Only lasted there for about 8 months. Partly because I was lazy and partly because I noticed I wasn't gaining weight nomatter what I ate. I'm 19, 5'8, and 150 ibs, the same as I weighed when I was 15 (cept I was 5'1 back then, so I looked a little chubby)

Both, although I don't see a big division between them. I want to be healthy and look healthy, which what I consider looking good. I like how my body looks from regular exercise - I have a hour-glass, atheletic build - cruvy but strong - which I like. Honestly, though, I'm kinda of lazy and have to motivate myself to exercise. It's just when I do exercise, my body is like "yeah! this is what I like!" Even if I need motivation, I know exercise really agrees with my body. I trim down and tone up very fast.

Exercising helps my depression and various other health problems. It's much more than weight. I think, concentrate and retain mentally better if I exercise regularly and I can deal with stress easier too.

Both. I lift to be stronger than the average person (let's face it: Why would I exercise if it just made me look like everyone else?). I keep cardio at a low intensity level exclusively for fat loss, though. With asthma, I can never achieve any impressive results on a 3 km run or anything like that, so I focus on getting built instead.

Mostly athletic performance. But I started athletics itself for my health (my blood pressure was 150/90 before I started working out) and looking good (ie, went from 38+ waist pants to 32s now...) However, I don't really "bodybuild" much, in that there's not much of a specific look I'm trying to achieve muscularity-wise when exercising, I pretty much just wanna look lean and "toned" and be really strong and athletic.

Sort of like the skinny geek who can beat literally every professional bodybuilder in the world in armwrestling and can carry 3 girls at once on his shoulders?

And when he gets hit by a truck, the truck will be wasted?

I want to be that guy too!

When I was younger, I would have said to look good, but these days, it's really all about feeling better and mitigating health issues.

The two really are intertwined, though. Being fit can help your self-esteem and, in turn, help you feel good.

Definitely to look good. But I don't have enough motivation to do it at the moment.
