Does anyone else eat weird things? For example... plain flour or baking soda right out of the container? I just ate a handful of flour, and I have previously eaten a box of powdered pie crust mix on an impulse.. It's really freaky -__- I mean, it didn't taste bad but obviously it's a little bit concerning to my parents, and explaining it is next to impossible. Has anyone who has done this come up with a reasonable explanation for bizarre impulsive snacking?

Mostly in my childhood and teens, I have craved and eaten the following:

Flour
dirt
Vinegar
crushed ice
snow
raw oats
tomato paste
tea biscuits

My son ate a peanut butter and ranch dressing sandwich a few weeks ago, I thought I might vomit. I try not to make a big deal out of it when he comes up with weird ideas like that as long as he eats it no matter what. I figure weird or not, just don't waste food.

Well, I was going to suggest pica but I looked it up and that's eating non food items. I used to eat paper and play -doh when I was a kid. I like raw dough though but you've got to be careful about uncooked egg in it.

Mmmm...raw cookie dough...num-num-num...better than actual cookies...

If it weren't for condiments, most food would be inedible... :eew:

Ketchup, SriRacha, Marinara, Heinz 57, Soy Sauce, Sweet'n'Sour, Mustard, Queso, Mayo, Worcestershire, Salad Dressings of all sorts, Barbecue Sauce - if its not compatible with at least one of those, you probably shouldn't be eating it...

If all else fails, (Cool) whip out the chocolate syrup...

When my older daughter was about 18 months old she would drink tobassco sauce straight from the bottle. She would only eat food if I put worcester sauce on it. Think worcester on cheerios. This continued until I banned both substances. Just today she threw a screaming all out fit in Whole Foods to get us to buy her squid. We have strange eating issues.

I always get the impulse to randomly snack, haha. On just about anything.
I eat alot of plain spoonfuls of sugar or salt.
Recently, I've taken to drinking jars of pickle juice. I am not even too fond of pickles.

When I was a kid my sister said I used to eat mud. I chew ice (whole cubes) I used to eat raw pasta but now I'm gluten free it is just the gluten free variety, rice noodles. I eat quick a number of things raw unprepared, like stock cubes, etc. I don't really think about i don't think it is a problem.

I do that too. My father has always poured salt on his fist or thumb to suck on. He also has the habit of picking up debits by pressing his thumb on surfaces and putting in his mouth. I even have seen him do it when he has dropped something on the floor.

I still love unbaked dough of just about any kind. As a child, my mom "busted" me sneaking the Pillsbury slice & bake chocolate chip cookie dough a number of times. The other thing I would raid in my youth was sugar cubes from cofee setups in businesses, as if I wasn't already hyper enough.
Perhaps my wierdest "munch" was the Elmer's paste from grade school.

I think I did try Play-doh also.
BTW, that P.B. & ranch sandwich sounds like something Elvis might have enjoyed, maybe with a couple of strips of bacon added.

I still eat sugar cubes when I see them in bowls or wherever  can't help myself

I'm glad I'm not the only one with cravings for strange things. I'll probably have to try and control myself using the "Can it be consumed with X condiment?" method. Haha

Imaged.

M'mm, Elmer's paste! That's what I left off my list. I ate this, too.

That's odd! I just got a topic reply notification, when there hasn't been any since Feb. 15th!
