I was reading this:

http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/112 ... nsion.html

I measured at the level of the iliac crest (essentially the topmost part of the pelvis), and came out 103 or 104 cm, so that meets criterion 1. The last time I had a lipid panel was in August and my triglycerides were 301 mg/dL, so that meets criterion 2. On the same lipid panel, my HDL cholesterol was 30 mg/dL, meeting criterion 3.

So I meet 3 out of 5 criterion for the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome. My physical, though, isn't until next month. I will ask to have the lipids checked.

As for criterion 4, my blood pressure is normally normal. As for criterion 5, my last fasting glucose measurement, taken last week, was 99 mg/dL, just 1 mg/dL shy of meeting criterion 5.
