I am a gay aspie, and when talking to straight boys, I am always afraid that I will like them. When talking to girls, I am worried that they will like me. I call such feelings invalid crushes. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm like this too, only I'm straight, and it's more along the lines of me being afraid I'll like the girls I don't like, and the girls that I like won't like me. Maybe this is why gays have an easier time meeting people :D

What? Gays have an easier time meeting people? On what planet?

I can't say I've ever had these kinds of worries, but that may be because I don't talk to many people.

I can't say that I've worried about that. But I have been attracted to straight people several times.

it does annoy/worry me that i seem to go for gay guys and straight/asexual girls. its really really awkward. especially if theyre your friend. this is probably because i dont hang around with non queers very much. all the guys i meet are gay(i never seem to go for the bi ones). so are the girls but i'm almost never am attracted to them unless they are involved with someone already. before i find this out i mean. ditto again for the genderqueers. im such a pain in butt.

I don't think any crush is invalid, but I do agree that it's frustrating to have a crush on somebody you know will never reciprocate those feelings.

Any other place on earth except for Greenwich Village, where I currently reside.

Happens all the time--and it is not unique to gays.

We do not control to whom we are attracted, and we do not control who finds us attractive.

It seems to me, though, that you have accomplished the most important thing: you have recognized that just because you feel something for a man, it does not follow that he feels the same for you; and conversely, just because you do not feel anything for someone, it does not follow that that person does not feel something for you.

I do worry about this sort of thing. Not so much that I will crush on someone, but that someone will crush on me. I'm unavailable.
