He definitely isn't 'undateable'. The guy is a stud.

I think Michael was the only one in the episode who could be "legitimately" considered "undateable".

I don't envy the Tourettes' guy at all, though. I have a very mild form of the randomly cussing thing, but it only happens when I'm on my own with no one around.

I thought him attractive but very generic

He was calling his date 'nerdy' for liking sci-fi films which would have annoyed me no end

Since when is it 'nerdy' to like intelligent, interesting films?

As opposed to Jackass films which I suppose are 'normal'

Although she seriously messed up saying 'Prometheus' was in her top three! 8O

A person calling things 'geeky' or 'nerdy' would be an instant turn-off for me as it's such a boring cliche
and indirectly offensive - it's like saying 'I prefer brainless idiots'

Their conversation was very boring in my opinion - very standard, very NT

NT dates seem to involve drinking expensive coffee in some poncey cafe while exchanging cliches in an embarrassed manner
- it make me feel uncomfortable just watching it, let alone having to do it!

He wasn't undateable as he'd already had a number of girlfriends

"Twenty-six-year-old Michael is determined to find someone to love, but is struggling to hold down a relationship. Despite having had 17 girlfriends in the past, some of whom lasted only a few days, his autism means that even holding a conversation with a girl can be a huge challenge."

In my opinion, all the people they pick for this programme are what I would call TV-friendly ie they are picked for the specific reason that they will appeal to an audience and in that respect they're likely to get interest off other people as well. A person who was literally undateable wouldn't get the programme makers interested in them in the first place. So the whole thing is a paradox.

Yeah, alright, but we're talking about the same guy who thought the first girl he asked out in the episode actually liked him, when really it was so obvious that she wasn't into him.

And 17 girlfriends? Come on ...

What do you mean, come on?

I think you're acting in a quite NT manner towards Michael

You do realise that this is how NTs think of you?

Unless of course...

Nothing like an autistic looking down on their own kind is there?

What are you insinuating?

Are you suggesting I may be a fake Aspie?

And where did you get that I was looking down on him?

I just wonder at people who ostensibly have Aspergers being so belittling of others on the autistic spectrum

He's got the same condition as you!

You called him 'undateable'

He didn't realise the first girl didn't like him?

Perhaps that's due to him being...Autistic! Lol

I love it when autistic people say stuff like this - it REALLY does make me wonder!

Belittling? Questioning whether someone who seems very clueless, when it comes to dating as shown in the episode, really had 17 girlfriends at that age is belittling?

Are you f*****g out of your mind?

Expressing a doubt is not the same as belittling.

enough of that, no trading insinuations please.

i do find it ironic that people are calling him "undateable" at face value, considering all of his experience!! ! i suppose it is something like a few female members we've had who had a lot of experience in short term relationships but no lasting connections.

What experience?

I could easily say I've had around 25 girlfriends by far just by talking to them and being very close with them. I do think it's the obliviousness that makes him think he actually had 17 girlfriends when in fact they were nothing serious. Maybe one or two were somewhat serious ... but 17 is hard to imagine.

It's the tendency of people to think 'Why would someone like him have had 17 girlfriends' but I'd say 'Why on earth not?'

If he's 'clueless' what are the people calling him clueless then?? Expert daters? - tell me more about this brilliant social ability
of yours!
