My point was, it's the shock of separation and loss that makes them get off their butt and do some introspection. Words do not get through to them while you're together, because they just keep taking your presence for granted and operating with their usual modus operandi.

I know people who did good deeds and ended up horribly, and I know people who were bullies and bad and they're now living happy lives.
There might be a correlation between good deeds and what you get in the future but it's not a fact rule of life.
