So my girlfriend's been up in Maine for the last two months completing her internship. She's finally coming back next week. We've been going out since April. I'm talking to her on the phone about the trip, and say "sorry honey I gotta go. I'll talk to you later." She replies "Okay honey. I'll talk to you soon. I love you."

...I think it just when my thumb hit the End button on my cell phone that I went "...wait, WHAT???". I'd planning on telling her when she got back, because we hadn't been going out long when she left and I thought it was too soon.

A minute later I call her back.

- "Hello?"
- "...I love you too."

We both giggled and hung up. Not the way I planned it but at least it happened.

*does a dance* She said she loves meee...she said she loooves meee...

If you didn't know that you loved each other, then why were you addressing each other as "honey"? I thought that was a term reserved for a loved one.

yes.........good point Cyber.

last time I checked, one doesn't call one's significant other honey or babe or whatever before they say I love you. Last time i checked. Then again, I'm old fashioned, and don't even call a girl babe or honey, unless it's a joke between the two of us.

Pet names often precede formal statements; why nitpick?

jamesohgoodie: *bounce* That's fantastic, man. :thumright:  :thumleft:

You don't address a lower-ranking soldier as "sir."

Different strokes, there's a girl who calls me honey and I don't think she even likes me.

touche. you win on that one Rack....I think.

I have a close friend of mine, we've both known each other since this past semester, she's in Oregon for the summer, and I have to stay in Washington to get my licence....we've seen each other once since I went home for summer. It was for two hours, but I still got to see her. We're not dating, but she misses me like crazy, and says that a lot, and can't wait for me to get back so that we can hang out. and I'm bringing her home for thanksgiving, because her parents treat her badly.

little addition to the story

talking to her today, she said it just kind of slipped out as we were hanging up. so as i was going "wait, what'd she say?" at the same time she was going "wait, what did I just say??". and the reason we both didn't say it earlier was because we didn't want to put pressure on the other one! the silly/cute factor just keeps rising here :)
