What issues do the liberals have with dating conservatives?

Personally... there are some fundamental differences that I have experiences regarding what are acceptable motivations and goals, what expectations are for people in different situations, and that tension tends to grow uncomfortable for many people over time. Some people make it work, a la the Shriver/Schwarz political marriage - but it is a challenge for me. A gross oversimplification would be that conservatives seem more prone to seek converting all people to a way of thought, whereas liberal/progressive -should- (does not always) advocate the opportunity for more options and diverse solutions. More a traditionalist vs. progressive issue than liberal/conservative, I suppose.

Tim, I believe the selection criteria you've chosen eliminate approximately 99.9999 percent of the female population.

And there's no guarantee you'd get along personally with a Republican Christian aspie who likes South Park and the Simpsons.

I've noticed in my own experience that how people get along personally has nothing to do with agreeing about beliefs, and not much to do with common interests.

How would anybody know who you voted for?

I think I'll try to force hippie/hipster ideals on the neocons, then.

What I don't get is why neocons are so offended by South Park, yet one of the show's creators is a neocon himself.

I was going to vote but the question didn't seem to address me. I consider myself Spiritual but not religious/non-affiliated.

I can't think of any way to attract female Simpsons/South Park-loving Aspies that doesn't involve renouncing Christianity or my conservative political views.

I feel like I've become a victim of the generalizations of others.

Tim, are you looking for a girlfriend or buying a tractor?

Starting out by making a list of the features you're looking for would make perfect sense if you're buying a tractor.

Here are the qualities:

Must be an Aspie
Must be either conservative or a tolerant liberal
Must be a Christian, or a tolerant non-Christian
Must like the Simpsons and South Park

Going by the poll, people are turned off by my religious and political beliefs.

How about:

Must be honest and good hearted
Must be somebody I enjoy spending time with

All else to be considered at a later time.

I could be the nicest, easy-going, guy in the world and have the best personality, but all people see is that I practice the wrong religion.

Your 'defined qualities' do more to block out potential then identify possibility. They define what the other person has to offer you, with nothing about what you can offer them... and my apologies, but they are rather arbitrary. If you demand that someone 'must' be what you imagine, then I believe most people will be pushed away by that very fact.

I think Tim is merely defining someone who can get along with him. Nothing wrong with that, except AS might be too limiting.

Eh... I don't quite agree. If that were the case, would it not be summed up as:

Someone who accepts me for who I am, my faith, and my interests.

No demands, no musts. Such these seem to be quite toxic.

I'm planning to renounce Christianity if it will make people like me.
