Trying to make friends on facebook!

I'm pretty hopeless socially in real life so a friend suggested that a good way to learn social skills is to try and learn some of the skills by speaking to people over the internet. The idea terrified me but I realized it might be a good idea because I wouldn't have to deal with meeting people face to face which is the hardest part for me. I joined this site and I created a facebook account. If anyone fancys a chat or wants to add me as a friend that would be cool.

Sure, I'll bite. But i've been ignoring fb alot recently. The chat function is on the fritz alot, and there aren't many people i want to talk to. I'm David.

Your friend hit a mark, though. Facebook is like a personal lifeline to all of my non-internet friends, and my most-used method of contacting them. I don't get that much attention though. :p

A good way to make friends on Facebook is by doing those treasure hunt applications.
Facebook is kind of like my contact book in my phone. It's just people in my family and my friends.

I finally got a Facebook account about a week ago and I'm really glad that I did. Ever since I did this I spoke to people that I haven't spoken to in months. Many of my family members are on there. It takes a while to get used to and even to find new friends but once it works for you it will be worth it. Good luck!

Face book is also a place where people can cause harm to you or socially isolate you by getting in contact with anyone you add and telling them not to write to you. Also if you add some people they take pleasure out of exploiting social dumbness and can bully for there own entertainment. This could all very well be happening to me and there again I may just be so used to being treated a certain way by people that im expecting it. But its putting me near meltdown maybe friends arn't my thing.

And if you're not in some sort of "in crowd" on there, prepare to be eternally sidelined.

I would also love to make friends but I still find Facebook very creepy. I joined half a year ago (after looooooong hesitation) with the purpose to keep contact with relatives. But they give a s**t about me and what I say and my cousins can say how much nonsense they want and get a lot of responses. So Im feeling like a failure there too

I really dont know how to get online friends anymore...anway good luck to you guys who try this!
