I look just plain white to most people. Don't realize I might be anything else until they hear my last name. People are often surprised when they see me with my darker-skinned, obviously hispanic looking father or sisters.

If you see me with the white side of my family, it's obvious that I'm mixed. My features mostly match theirs, but I've got brown/hazelish eyes while they all have blue, and my skin is a few shades darker. When not comparing me to them though, I don't look like anything but generic white.

So, no, I guess people don't really mistake me for an ethnicity that I'm not. But some have been surprised to find out that that's not my only ethnicity.

I've had people tell me that I look like I'm from England. I've also had many people mistake me as a Londoner.

No...it's very clear I'm English...in fact many have also guessed I'm part German and have a little Scottish blood in me too.

I've mistaken others before though, I'm terrible with medium skin tones - a classic example was with my first boyfriend, we'd been dating a few months before I realised he was Indian...and that was only after seeing photos of his cousins in Indian dress and hearing his sisters names.

Because I don't talk very much, people often assume I'm from France or Poland and that I'm incapable of speaking English.

I've been told in America and Europe that I look Russian. Specially when I wear my blue eye contacts.

Can someone tell me what features Russians have??

In Germany, some people thought I was Turkish. Most of them noticed that I wasn't though.

I'm a halfginger, and for some reason people have mistaken me for being Turkish. Apparently the Kurdish Turks have a bunch of gingers.

I've been mistaken for being a "black Asian" sooooo many times I lost count. It's mostly because of my eyes.

I've been called everything... Mexican, Filipino, First Nations/Native, Indian, or any combination of those.

I'm actually East Asian, but I just have tanned skin... oh well, it's not too much of a bother. Sometimes it's pretty amusing to see people try to guess.

I am Greek. Sorry for any mistakes.

I've been mistaken for a Spaniard when I was in France, once. (This isn't uncommon, as far as I know)

In Greece, there was a guy on the bus. He was staring at me. I thought: "What the h..?" but I didn't pay any further attention.
Half an hour later I saw the same guy on the metro. He came close. He told me that I reminded him a friend of his. He was Iranian.

I have been mistaken for being white (I'm mixed) which is not as bad. People also thought I was European or from the US.
